Security Responsibility

While Ledger provides industry-leading security solutions for cryptocurrency storage, ultimate security responsibility lies with the user. You are solely responsible for:

• Safeguarding your recovery phrase and private keys in a secure location
• Setting a strong PIN code for your device and not sharing it with anyone
• Verifying the authenticity of transactions on your hardware device screen
• Keeping your device firmware and Ledger Live application updated
• Ensuring you are using genuine Ledger products purchased from official sources
• Being aware of phishing attempts and only using official Ledger websites and applications

Device Setup Warnings

During the setup process, please pay special attention to the following critical security measures:

• Your device should generate a new 24-word recovery phrase. If it shows a pre-configured phrase, stop immediately as the device may be compromised.
• Write down the recovery phrase on the provided card or on durable, fire-resistant material. Never store it digitally.
• Verify that your device is genuine by checking the anti-tampering seals and using Ledger's genuine check in Ledger Live.
• Test your recovery phrase by resetting your device and restoring from the phrase before transferring significant assets.

Cryptocurrency Risks

Cryptocurrency investments and transactions carry inherent risks, including but not limited to:

• Regulatory changes that may affect legality, taxation, or usage

Ledger regularly updates its software and firmware to enhance security and functionality. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your Ledger Live application updated to the latest version
• Installing firmware updates when they become available
• Verifying that you are downloading Ledger Live only from official sources
• Understanding that using outdated software or firmware may expose you to security vulnerabilities
